Our sanctuary bunny of the month for May is Godzilla
(May 10, 2020)Godzilla is a Netherland dwarf who was handed into a vets as a stray. No-one at the vet practice was in a position to offer him a home, but they were very sad at the prospect of needing to put such a sweet little chap to sleep if a rescue space for him couldn't be found.
Godzilla joined us with huge overgrown front teeth, and sadly also has extensive general dental disease. He was very much in need of vet treatment when he arrived, and needed to be booked in for an urgent dental. We suspect he may have been abandoned by his owners due to his health issues.
Godzilla is currently needing his troublesome incisors trimming regularly. However, he will hopefully be able to have these successfully removed once normal vet service can safely be resumed. He will need on-going dental treatment for his back teeth issues. Sadly, Netherland Dwarf rabbits can be predisposed to developing health issues due to their un-natural small flat face shape.
