Lassiters is a large Belgium Hare cross. This handsome boy has joined us due to his owner becoming disabled and struggling with the care of multiple rabbits. He has arrived with a bonded companion, both of which have head tilts with seemingly completely different causes.
He was born 2011/12 and has been tilted since he was a youngster. It seems likely that he has had a very nasty ear infection for a long time. A CT scan has revealed severe changes inside his head as a result of so much infection being present for so long. Unfortunately, it has been agreed that he isn't a suitable candidate for surgery and cannot be cured. Therefore, we are relying on medicines to keep his condition under some control.
He is a vulnerable situation with the changes in his skull likely to keep progressing. We have accepted that we are sadly providing him with palliative care. For the time being though he is incredibly happy and well considering. He will need to be monitored very closely. However, for the time being he still enjoys a good binky and still has a good quality of life, which we keep everything crossed will continue for some time.
