Grooming Services
At Camp Nibble do not think that small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs should be subjected to unneccessary grooming as this could cause them stress. However, we do believe that in some cases grooming is very important to maintain the wellbeing of your rabbit or guinea pig.

Our grooming services are very flexible in order to meet the needs of each individual small animal.

Rabbit Grooming

Some long haired rabbit breeds require grooming in order to prevent and remove matts and tangles. If left these can become sore and uncomfortable for the rabbit. We are happy to deal with these for you and give your bunny a trim if neccessary.

We do not advise fully wetting and shampooing a rabbit unless they are extremely dirty and it is absolutely neccessary. This experience can be very stressful for the rabbit and a rabbit's coat takes hours to fully dry!

However, we do come across many rabbits with very messy bottoms! Sometimes a rabbit is unable to groom itself as well it should. This may be because the rabbit has tooth problems, is overweight, or for some other reason. It is essential for your rabbit to be kept hygenic for the benefit of their general health. In addition to this a messy bottom places your rabbit in great danger of flystrike, which is potentially fatal. If you feel that your rabbit is not keeping itself as clean as it should be we are happy to take on the messy job of cleaning them up for you. We use rabbit safe products that help kill and repel mites, fleas and flies.

During its main moult your bunny may need a helping hand. We can groom moulting rabbits for you to remove the dead coat. In house rabbits this will ensure that your home does not become covered in rabbit fur. This will also make your rabbit more comfortable and reduce the possibility of illness from swallowing the excess hair whislt grooming itself.

Morgan is such a handsome boy. He is a huge french lop who needed a helping hand whilst moulting. Just look at how much dead fur he was carrying round!

Guinea pig Grooming

Some guinea pig breeds have extremely long hair! It is essential that they are kept clean and matt free. Some have hair so long that that a regular hair cut is the best solution.  Unlike rabbits, we believe that shampooing using skin conditioning, insecticidal shampoos every few months can help to keep your guinea pig healthy. We understand that not all owners have the confidence to detangle and their own pets. If this is the case then you may wish to use Camp Nibble's grooming services.

Nail Trimming

Regular Nail trimming is essentail for most rabbits and guinea pigs in order to keep their feet healthy. Nail trimming is included in the price of a full groom. alternatively you are welcome to book an appointment for nail trimming alone. Nail trimming can be done relatively quickly whilst you wait.

All grooming services are available to boarding and none boarding small animals. Please note that boarding animals are eligable to a 50% discount on all grooming services. If you would like your animal groomed or their nails trimming during their stay please inform us when booking.
