Cruelty Free Cosmetics
Animal testing for cosmetics still happens. Over 80% of the world allows animals to be used in cruel and unnecessary cosmetics tests and these animal tested cosmetics can be purchased in every country across the globe. Using animals to test cosmetics is unethical and unnecessary as there are many reliable and humane alternatives which do not involve animal suffering.
Animals, including rabbits, guinea pigs, mice and rats are routinely injected, gassed, force-fed and killed for cosmetics testing worldwide. Many people are not aware that a majority of cosmetics and beauty products available in supermarkets and on the high street contain ingredients that have been tested on animals. However, there are some fantastic cruelty free brands out there and we would encourage all animal lovers to seek out and support these cruelty free brands.
For full details of the issues surrounding animal testing in the cosmetic industry, and important campaining work in this area please visit the BUAV and Cruelty-Free International websites. Cruelty Free International is a global organisation established by the BUAV who are leading the worldwide campaign to end animal testing for cosmetics.
Remember to look for the BUAV's leaping bunny when buying cosmetics. The Leaping Bunny certifies products that have not been tested on animals. It is the ONLY guarantee that companies meet strict criteria. For a full list of BUAV approved cruelty free brands please visit the Go Cruelty Free website.
We want to encourage our Camp Nibble supporters to go cruelty free and to only buy from BUAV certified cosmetic brands.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the following BUAV certified cosmetic brands who have been kind enough to donate prizes for us to use at our rabbit awareness events. Please visit their websites in support of their generousity and introduce yourself to some fantastic cruelty free products.
