Margot is naturally a large/giant rabbit. However, she has arrived much heavier than is healthy for her. We are hoping to be able to reduce her weight gradually and safely in order for her to be a better candidate for neutering. For her long-term health and to protect her from reproductive cancers it will be important for her to be neutered.
Giant rabbit breeds are very susceptible to mobility issues as they age, this extra weight will be putting additional strain on Margot’s joints. Her huge dewlap (chin) makes it difficult for her to groom as effectively as she should be able to which makes her prone to skin issues and very worryingly leaves her vulnerable to fly strike.
